A band for all season

If, like us, you get a certain sense of satisfaction in hearing the next big thing before most people are even aware of their existence, then you’ll appreciate WINTERKIDS.

Fans of Bloc Party and Franz Ferdinand will savour the Surrey band’s debut album Memoirs with its disco drum beats, relentlessly zippy melodies and perky lyrics.

In keeping with his peers, frontman James Snider sings in the thickest of accents but with his brazen nasal tones it would be no surprise if most of his friends have discreetly cut him out out of their social circles. However, get past the acquired taste that is the vocals and you’ll quickly appreciate dazzling songs like Hear Me Out.

August 1, King Tut’s, Glasgow
