We would almost certainly have emigrated to the sunnier climes of Australia a long, long time ago if it wasn’t for the irresistible pull of Scotland’s thriving music scene and the fact that the Aussies don’t accept “The Pop Cop” as a legitimate trade.
It must surely take someone with even more motivation to head in the opposite direction but that’s exactly what the boys from dance-rock band PENDULUM have done, being as they are natives of the gloriously unspoiled paradise that is Perth. And that’s not the one where St Johnstone play their football.
Following our extremely popular Radiohead ticket giveaway a couple of months back, our friends at http://www.gigsinscotland.com/ are now offering one reader of The Pop Cop the chance to get a +1 on the guestlist for Pendulum’s live show this Saturday at Glasgow’s Carling Academy. Pretty sweet, eh?
All you need to do is email firstname.lastname@example.org with the subject headline: “The Pop Cop competition” and include your full name, address and daytime telephone number before 4pm on Friday, May 2.
If you’re not lucky enough to win, there’s still a few tickets available by clicking the link at the bottom of this post or by calling Ticketmaster on 08444 999 990.
OK, so that takes care of your Saturday. As for Sunday, get yourself down to King Tut’s between 4pm and 8pm for their monthly YourSound event, which is a must for any musicians with ambitions beyond their bedrooms. Industry insiders will be on hand to give some advice, encouragement and constructive criticism, there will be a guest DJ set from 1990s and you can hear what the future of our country’s music sounds like with tracks from Amplifico, Jack Butler, We Were Promised Jetpacks and The Phantom Band.
b June 8, RockNess, Dores (DJ set)
