How we made it big – The story of COP
My passion for my music became my obsessions and I could not resist but to pursue it in the most profound manner. The goal was simple to create a niche for the music that I personally love and involve the younger generation along the journey.
Musicians are quite creative breed of people and popularity is what they desire and live for. I too wanted to come in the limelight and forming a band was the option that looked most prudent.
Musicians are always thought of as geniuses who are expected to create magic every time they arrive on the stage. It is this pressure that motivates COP to come up with best performances each time and entertain the people in the best possible ways. The gyrating audiences, the waving of hands, people chanting your name is an experience that I feel is mind numbing and no amount of money can replace it. The decision to form COP was not simple at all and Tyler my best friend and band guitarist helped me realize that we need to follow our passion irrespective of results they produce.
Although we made our mind to come up with a band, we were still undecided as to whom all along with us will be ready to spoil their careers. Creativity does not provide you with much regularity and regular life lacks satisfaction. Done and dusted to start our band we were still unable to find a soulful musician and a creative keyboard player.
Destiny plays its role in number of ways
The girl I thought was useless helped me find Perry, our lead Musician. By the way the girl I am talking about is my girlfriend. Perry was quite young to be a musician and I thought to check him with some of my lyrics. Although he struggled a little in the beginning but boy once he picked up his rhythm, we all were of the same opinion, that we are witnessing a star in the making.
Having resources and big contacts
These always helps and Tyler came up with Steven, our keyboard player. It was set and now we only needed to give a name to our first love our band. After much thought process and deliberations we finalized on COP. The approach was simple we wanted to hear from our audiences Come Out and Perform, yes Come Out and Perform is what Cop Suggests.
July 13, 2013 was the day when we got the chance to perform at a local bar in Las Vegas. The gathering was modest and much was expected from us. A few Come Out and Perform chants were echoing and we were sure that it could be our moment of lifetime. But as they say, destiny plans in advance and it certainly did. I suddenly choked my throat and could not utter a single word. A nightmare for a singer and band artists, the chants turned into booed reactions and we were embarrassed in broad daylight.
Humiliation affects those who are not confident about their skills and we got more determined after this incident. I personally felt the responsibility to add one more singer to the group and my childhood friend who trained in music with me accepted the proposal. After a little bit of local search we included James, who plays mind-blowing drum. With six members in unison, the team looked complete and we were determined to bounce back.
Destiny plays it role in number of ways
We again got a call from another Las Vegas hotel owner. The guy had seen our YouTube video and was determined to book us. It was the chance to redeem ourselves and we did exactly what we were meant to be. The Pop music by COP forced people to dance and gyrate freely and in one word If would to describe it then I would say that we owned the night. I personally had quite an amazing performance and Tyler as well as Smith and the whole team felt proud about the band.
It was no stopping for us after that night and to exaggerate our achievements a little I would say that we spread like a wildfire after the night. Rock concerts became frequent and traveling from New York to Washington, Los Angeles to Las Vegas became a routine. Our rock concerts got popular in various parts of America and it seemed that life had come full circle for us.
Music launch, big fat weddings, club gatherings, music festivals all over the country and cultural events are some of the places that we have been performing at up till now. The plan to go global is round the corner and I am personally awaiting for an International sponsor who can help us get popular on world stage.
